Sopronkövesd has a vibrant economy Due to its favourable location to the Austrian border and the proximity of Sopron, the village of 1,363 inhabitants has been chosen by many major companies as their headquarters. Established non-polluting industrial plants employ more people than the population of the village. There are a large number of small businesses in the municipality, a significant proportion of which are engaged in services and catering. A number of major developments have been carried out in recent years thanks to the business rates collected. Based on the current developments and future plans, Sopronkövesd is one of the most dynamically developing settlements in the region. The village's close proximity to nature and its use of renewable energy make it a deserving user of the Green Heart Village slogan. Its programmes also offer a number of tourism opportunities that are currently being developed and can be exploited.
